The Croatians actually came very close to qualification, and probably should have seen it out, but conceded a devastating 88th minute goal to Jesus Navas, which, coupled with Italy's 2-0 win over Ireland, sent the Croatians out.

Players to play for Croatia through this tournament included the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Luka Modric, Vedran Corlunka, and former Arsenal striker Eduardo.
