Authentic and original Italy home shirt, as used during the 2006 World Cup, during which the Italians would infamously win the competition, following a victory over France in the final, during which Zinedine Zidane would see himself sent off. Shirt is complete with nameset of Marco Materazzi.
Before getting into the dramatic story of the final, it would make sense to recap how Italy got there in the first place. Topping their group stage with 7 points (2 wins, vs Ghana and Czech Republic, with a draw against the USA) set them up with a round of 16 match against Australia, which the Italians would win in added time, courtesy of a 95th minute penalty from Francesco Totti. They then beat Ukraine 3-0, before a 2-0 semi final victory over Germany - with both goals coming 2 minutes from the end of extra time. Then came the final...
Zinedine Zidane gave the French the lead after just seven minutes, before the man on this shirt, Marco Materazzi would level the scores after 19 minutes. The 2 would be in the spotlight again towards the end of extra time, when Zidane would stupidly headbutt Materazzi off the ball, and was given his marching orders. The Italians would end up winning 5-3 on penalties, with David Trezeguet missing the only spot kick for France.
Overall, shirt remains in superb condition. Tiny bit of faint marking to the front, barely noticeable. Nameset remains exceptional both front and back. Size XL, with measurements provided in pictures.
