Barcelona 1997-98 Away Shirt (XL)

Authentic and original Barcelona away shirt, as used during the 1997-98 season, during which the Spanish side won the domestic double, under the guidance of Dutch coach, Louis Van Gaal.

A successful season for the Blaugrana, despite the early season sale of the legendary Ronaldo to Inter, who's departure was offset slightly by the red hot form of Rivaldo, who scored 28 goals in all competitions. They lifted silverware firstly by winning the UEFA Super Cup, defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in a 2 legged final (the last ever 2 legged Super Cup final), before defeating RCD Mallorca on penalties in the Copa del Rey, following a 1-1 draw. Their league form was incredible for the first quarter of the season, going unbeaten in their opening 9 matches, winning 8 of them, including an away win in El Clasico, beating Real Madrid 3-2. They would also defeat their bitter rivals 3-0 this season, to do the double over them. Following confirmation of their title win - secured in mid April, Barcelona did tail off slightly, losing their last 3 games of the season, all by atleast a 2 goal margin, including a thumping 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid!

Despite the double win, they did endure a pretty difficult UEFA Champions League campaign, finishing bottom of their group, winning just one game, in a group that included Newcastle United, PSV Eindhoven, and Dynamo Kyiv, with their sole victory coming at the Camp Nou, against Newcastle.

Overall, shirt is in very good condition. A few bobbles as seen, but no major damage across the shirt. Size XL, measurements provided in pictures.
