Italy 1996-97 Away Shirt (XL)

Authentic and original Italy away shirt, as used during the 1996 European Championship campaign in England, during which the Italians would crash out during the group stages of the tournament.

 The Guardian newspaper actually calculated this group as the strongest 'Group of Death' of all time, owing to the strength of each nation, with all 4 members being placed within the top 10 of the World rankings at the time. Italy were placed 7th in the World at the time, but they were still worse off than Germany (2nd best) and Russia (3rd), and would ultimately finish the group in 3rd - with the Russians finishing bottom.

Italy would win just once during the tournament, this being an opening game win over Russia, defeating them 2-1, with Pierluigi Casiraghi scoring both goals for the Italians. They would lose by the same scoreline to the Czech Republic, before a drab 0-0 draw with Germany confirmed their elimination. Players to play for Italy during this tournament including the likes of Paolo Maldini, Gianfranco Zola, and Alessandro Del Piero.

Overall, shirt is in very good condition. A couple of minor marks around the shirt, but nothing massive, and certainly nothing overly noticeable, all pictured. Size XL, with measurements provided in pictures.
