Authentic and original Italy home shirt, as used during the years of 1999 and 2000, during which the Italians qualified for the 2000 UEFA European Championship, reaching the final of the tournament.
The Italians were placed in group 1 of qualifying, and would breeze through it, losing just one of their 8 qualifying matches, winning 4, and drawing 3 as they finished top of their group! Their only defeat came to 2nd placed Denmark, a loss which came as a bit of a surprise, especially considering they were 2-0 up at one point in the match, before letting it slip, and losing 3-2 courtesy of 2 second half goals from the Danes.
As for the tournament itself, Italy would reach the final, having finished top of group B, winning all 3 of their games against Turkey, Sweden, and Co-hosts Belgium. The knockout stage brought about a quarter final against Romania, which they won 2-0, before penalties were required to see off a valiant Netherlands side, who would convert just one of their spot kicks.
The final brought a difficult test against France in Rotterdam, a game which was ultimately decided via golden goal! Italy took the lead just before the hour mark, before a 94th minute equaliser from Sylvain Wiltord forced extra time - bringing the golden goal rule into play. The game came to an end after 103 minutes, when David Trezeguet scored the 'golden' goal that won France Euro 2000, ending Italian dreams.
Overall, shirt is in very good condition. A few wee signs of wear, none more prevalent than one small pull on the front however. It's labelled as a size large, but best fit is a medium due to the skin fit nature of the shirt. Measurements provided in pictures.
