Northern Ireland 2007 Training Shirt (S)

Authentic and original Northern Ireland training shirt, as used during training sessions between 2007 and 2008, during which the nation attempted to qualify for the 2008 European Championships.

The Northern Irish failed to qualify for the tournament, finishing in 3rd in what an admittedly difficult group, which included the likes of Spain (who finished top), and Sweden, who finished 2nd, 6 points clear of Northern Ireland. The campaign got off to an awful start, after they suffered an embarrassing 3-0 home defeat to minnows Iceland, with all 3 goals coming within the first 40 minutes! They got back on track by GW2 however, securing a famous 3-2 win over Spain, thanks to a David Healy hat trick.

This wouldn't be the only hat trick the former Manchester United youngster would score, as he added another trio of goals against Liechtenstein in GW5, which actually had his side sitting on 10 points from the opening 5 games! Healy found more success in front of goal against Sweden the following game, scoring both in a 2-1 victory, and scored another brace against Liechtenstein at the end of August 2007. These results had Northern Ireland sitting on 13 points from a possible 18, but later to defeats to Iceland, Latvia, and Spain ended any qualification hopes.

Shirt is in good overall condition. Might be the odd sign of wear but nothing major. Size small.
